Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral or a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)?

How do I know if EMDR is right for me?

You don’t need a referral to see me. However, if you have a referral and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions each calendar year.  The rebate does not cover the cost of the session but rather is a contribution to the overall cost. Please speak with your GP about whether an MHCP is right for you.

EMDR is a flexible therapeutic tool that can be used in many different ways. We will frequently discuss and revisit the conversation about how EMDR is being applied and if it is the right fit for you.

What to expect from my first session

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and to see whether working together feels like a good fit. We may talk about what has brought you to therapy, your current supports, and your key treatment goals.

How long are appointments?

Standard appointments are 50 minutes. Longer or extended sessions may be offered or discussed where clinically appropriate.
